S1C10: 4D Chess

To my loyal subjects (who love and adore me),

You know, historians will look back on days like this in utter awe at my genius. They’ll look towards the dribbling snot-covered masses during this time with questions like “Why didn’t you reclaim Jeritopia?”, “Why did you focus on the Roots and not the much more valuable Overwatch?”, and “Why did you actively help the Underworld Collective by stalling the Cultivation Society?”

They will laugh uproariously at their stupidity. They clearly can’t even comprehend the 4D Chess that I’m playing. In the coming months, my tactics will be spoken of with such reverence that people will be fetching my corpse from the ocean just to kiss my arse.

Too far?

WRONG! NOT FAR ENOUGH!

YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND EVEN AN IOTA OF MY BRILLIANCE! I INVITE YOU TO SEETHE ON THIS FACT! I WILL BRING ATLAUNDER INTO A NEW ERA WITH MY MIND ALONE!

I will not apologise for my outburst, as you all needed a reality check.

Oh, right, you don’t even know what happened.

I began my masterful strategy with an invasion of the Roots from the south. We took out the Underworld Collective battalion that was already stationed there and got into a massive skirmish with the Cultivation Society.

The Cultivation Society pitifully flailed around and took out two battalions with sheer luck. Even my masterful plans can’t account for dumb luck from the plant boys.

While this was happening, our troops in Jeritopia were able to hold their ground as they dropped behind the Oasis Network’s lines. They split themselves into the north and south sides of the river in an attempt to cut them off from the lower third of the territory. Luckily, the androids were more focused on trying to defend their factory from the rebels, so they were allocating more troops to the Smoke.

Like I said, the braindead masses will make this look like a loss but the true believers will know that I am playing the long game. Soon it will be King takes King. Or something like that, I never familiarised myself with how Chess works.

Look, I know what I’m doing, but it can’t hurt to listen to your measly opinions. Here are our options:

  • The Roots - The Cultivation Society has the majority of its army stationed there. It would be a tough fight, but it would catch them completely off guard. The Culties would also be squished between the Underworld Collective and us, making the rebels finally useful.

  • The Smoke - The Smoke is the main production factory for the Oasis Network. Taking this would mean that I could restart production on our robot army. However, this would likely lead to a prolonged and bloody offensive.

  • Rivers End - The recent fighting means we can slip in easily and recreate the War of Rivers End from last year. There is no hope of the Cultivation Society or the Underworld Collective rekindling what they once had, so hopefully that will give us the leg up we needed.

  • Jeritopia - Being able to recapture the territory would be an amazing propaganda win, but the Oasis Network essentially has it locked down. It’s the classic risk and reward.

As always, we can fortify a territory, but that will mean letting this opportunity slip through our fingers. It might be worth it if it means researching new defences, though.

As always, the choice is yours. Just try to play along with my masterful strategies and think, “What would Jerit do?”

God Emperor Jerit
