S1C7: A Taste of Victory

Greetings from the Sea of Many

We believe that we have fully recovered from the sorry state that we saw ourselves in these past few months. However, that has come at a grave cost.

Dionea’s condition is now stable, but she is still sickly. The water has helped her recover, even regain some of her strength. However, we fear that her body has generally degraded beyond the point of long-term survival. Her leaves are browned at the edges, and her mouth moves at a much slower rate than before. She is barely eating. She has given us instructions to yet again prepare for the arrival of the Prophet. This was a day that we knew would come; the air of uncertainty and dread can not be quenched, it grows like a burning aura of despair.

In terms of our territory gains, a large chunk of Rivers End is now ours. We began by bolstering our lines with reserve troops and pushing from the halfway line. We simultaneously attempted to make a play for the Reeds, sending some more troops down that way, but they were completely prepared for us with fire bombs. Eventually, the Underworld Collective Troops pushed up from the Reeds, even reclaiming some of the territory in Rivers End. While a minor setback, this might be our undoing if we let it fester.

We have managed to capture about 70% of Rivers End, giving us ample time to implant the water with the Seeds of Dionea.

While this was happening, both the Governed and the Oasis Network attacked the Circuits, leaving the Underworld Collective distracted. While they were able to beat back the Oasis Network, the Governed carved out a considerable chunk of the southern portion of the markets.

The Underworld Collective is now in a tough spot where they may have to choose which territory to fight for and which to let go.

We have a few options, and this will determine what our priorities will be for the rest of our campaign. Here are our options:

  • We could mount one last push for Rivers End, capturing the rest of the territory. This would allow us to implant the seeds into Atlaunder’s water, but the Underworld Collective will likely fight tooth and nail for it if they choose to launch one last counter-attack. While the risk might be worth it, we could see this backfiring.

  • The Reeds could be an interesting target; completely blocking off the Underworld Collective from the eastern portion of the dome could be advantageous. However, this would leave Rivers End vulnerable to recapture. The risk may be worth it if the Underworld Collective decides to focus on the Circuits.

  • Overwatch doesn’t provide much strategic advantage as a target, and catching the Goverened completely off guard while they’re focusing on the Circuits. This area might not be too strategic, but we might be able to cut through a corridor that leads to the Crates.

May the Lady of Vines guide your hand to make the right decision.
