S1C11: Fresh Water

To those with our cause in their hearts,

We can drink again. River’s End is ours once again. We completed our main objective, but no matter how fresh my water is in my cup, I can still taste the microplastics spewing out of the Oasis Network drones outside the Circuits.

While we did take Valhalla, the Network has fought back and is now contesting us in that district. However, some of KH47UN forces did breach into The Circuits, killing a few of our soldiers in the process, but we were able to push them back out again. Ever since they broke past and managed to reach Level 99 we have been super vigilant on reinforcing protection on the Southern border.

We believe that KH47UN’s tactics are becoming more aggressive, with some analysts suspecting that KH47UN is acting out of “revenge” for taking Valhalla. I do think it is just us projecting onto a boogeyman. boogeydroid? But I refuse to humour the notion of a robot wanting vengeance.

The Oasis Network’s tenacity is beginning to make me reconsider KH47UN’s threat to Atlaunder as a whole, not just to us. The Oasis Network has been decimating Governed territory and spreading east. While I did indulge in Jerit’s losses (who wouldn’t?) I’m starting to think we should make advancements in taking down Oasis first.

This is by no means inferring to an alliance. Jerit is still a fascist, and we will never stoop that low to defeat the current threat, but at least you know a fascist is dead when you kill them yourself. We could race and see who breaches Atlas first, but stopping the Oasis Network from growing means there will be fewer robots. No matter how we do it, more fascists will be turned into mindless drones; as much as we wish them a fate worse than death, we need to account for the fact that our fates are at stake too.

Enough about the droids. We have drinking water again, having successfully driven the Cultivation Society out of River’s End. Maybe it’s because my thoughts are more preoccupied with the Oasis Network, or maybe a bit of Dionea’s seed is now in my nervous system, but I am starting to feel some sense of remorse for the Culties.

Aside from the fact those people are brainwashed, at the end of the day it’s just the flora wanting it’s home to be safe. Stories talk of a time where humans and wildlife lived in harmony, and some stories talk of technology as a usurper. Dionea is doing everything at her power to live, even sending martyrs out only for us to decimate them right where they are, all for the seeds. I feel like if I searched hard enough I could find sympathy in my heart for her. But at the same time, us humans need to live as well. Maybe after the Oasis Network and the Governed are gone we can talk treaties. Just not right now.

Sorry for such a sombre toast. Drink as much water as you can. We need to be hydrated for our next objectives. We need to take back Valhalla and keep defending River’s End, but we need to consider which way we advance – to Jeritopia, The Smoke, or Atlas? We need to get the inhumane scum out of the way first.

Drink up everyone.

Atiley, out.
