S1C10: Human Warriors

To those with our cause in their hearts,

Time and time again, every single one of you surprises me. It seems like no matter how much the world kicks us down into the ocean floor, we get back onto our feet and spit the sand right back into its face.

When the battle started, we lost our only troops to the culties in The Roots, and the Oasis Network had breached into The Circuits. It didn’t take long for casualties to fill the grounds in The Circuits and blood to fill the streams of River’s End. And as always, Jerit wants to have his thumb in every single pie he can sniff out, so a few of his troops forced themselves yet again into River’s End.

But we all fought valiantly. Though our siblings in The Roots perished we kept fighting in The Circuits and River’s End, making sure that every breath we take is spent protecting our people and spreading rebellion for more survivors. It’s to the point where we could take River’s End again. But that didn’t stop those robot reinforcements from spilling closer into our homes. Seeing those metallic husks invade and take down our people, as bodies filled our streets, our roads filled with our blood...

And suddenly my hand found itself pressed against the button. I don’t remember if the firebomb previously failed, but all I remember was seeing a ball of fire in The Smoke. I let the screams and scorn thrown my way from my colleagues fade away so I could pick up the transmission from our troops celebrating as they made their way to Valhalla.

Now that we have Valhalla we control the West of Atlaunder. We are now beginning to suffocate The Oasis Network’s headquarters, though they still have some reinforcements within Jeritopia. The Governed still have space to move East if they’re able to take down the hordes of Culties in their way. However, we have more reinforcements to take back River’s End and begin a march to spread freedom to the North.

I eradicated every single one of those reinforcements, and none of our fighters were unharmed. Just like two battles ago. My colleagues are beginning to worry that I’ve become more trigger happy with the firebombs. All I see is me paving the way for our people—all real people—to thrive.

Freedom will be ours. Not eventually. Inevitably.

Atiley, out.
