S1C2: The Fate of a Small Village
To my loyal subjects (who love and adore me),
The absolute aura of greatness that I exude should be studied by the top minds in all of Atlaunder.
As you can see, I’m in a good mood.
The initial troop drop into the Reeds was a sight to behold. I don’t think I’ve seen that much carnage rained down on a miniscule village since the first battle of Level 99 (that hasn’t happened in your timeline yet but when it does, you’ll know what I mean).
We were able to capture the entire southern portion of the Reeds, with more enemy casualties than the Civil War of the Circuits (again, you’re in for a treat when that happens).
We now have a completely clear path to Overwatch. We could restart our whole surveillance operation again if we capture the territory again (yay!).
The entirety of Atlas will be chanting my name once we get that back (more than they already do). So, it is quite enticing.
We haven’t gotten to that point yet so we need to all stop fantasising about my future greatness and focus on the matters at hand.
We have two massive conundrums on our hands.
Our first conundrum: Do we occupy the entirety of the Reeds or do we go straight for the throat of Overwatch?
Being able to completely occupy the Reeds is a nice thought and would squash the regions hope for a counter-attack. However, that would give the Cultivation Society the time they need to fortify Overwatch. While it does reduce our chances of winning Overwatch cleanly, that might just be worth it if it means we can hold on to the territory in its entirely.
However, going straight for Overwatch would look better on a resume of military victories. This would also allow us to set up our surveillance systems, giving us a gigantic advantage for future battles. On the other hand, this could lead to a catastrophic situation where we stretch ourselves too far, the plant humpers re-take the Reeds and our troops at Overwatch are cut off from support. The risk might be worth it to fight a weaker Overwatch but it could still blow up in our faces.
Our second conundrum: What do we do with the villagers?
We could just burn and kill them all. It would be a lot easier and could provide our troops with some good target practice. However, we then have a territory on our hands with no population and very low strategic value.
On the other side of the coin, we could capture them and perform experiments on them. I call this the fun option. This could potentially lead to a vaccine or cure for Dionea’s seeds. This would be a devastating blow to the Cultivation Society and protect Atlas from any seed-based invasion. This is a little inhumane but that depends if you consider them more human or more flora. Take your pick, whatever makes you sleep easier at night (for me, it’s considering them human).
So there are your choices, go do your part and make me seem smart!
