S1C3: Blood for the River
Greetings from the Sea of Many
I have never heard the scream of so many seedlings burning alive.
As you decided, we managed to stop the Governed from advancing any further in the Reeds, they haven’t gained a meter of territory.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t their ultimate goal.
They started burning down every hut and structure in the southern part of the village, killing all civilians on sight.
I heard the screams of the seedlings inside my mind. One after another, young and old, screaming for Dionea.
The southern village now has no worshippers residing in it, Dionea has absolutely no influence in that region anymore.
For the safety of the rest of the Reeds, we have evacuated the Northern portion of the village to Overwatch and the Roots.
For our other territories, Rivers End has remained in a stalemate as the Underworld Collective have decided to push into the Smoke instead.
They were unsuccessful in taking over the factory and the Oasis Network pushed them halfway to the border.
Additionally, the Underworld Collective might have to focus on Valhalla as the Oasis Network has breached their walls and are fighting like hell to take it.
Dionea’s condition is relatively stable with the extra water but there is no telling how long this will last.
From here, we have a few options.
We could attempt to capture the remainder of Rivers End. This would allow us to pump more water for Dionea, giving us a bit longer to prepare for the arrival of the Prophet. This would be betting that the Underworld Collective will be too distracted by the recent events in the Smoke and Valhalla.
There is an argument for us re-capturing the southern region of the Reeds. This would allow us to rebuild the area and the community there. However, this would be sacrificing more troops for what is essentially ash and ruins. There is very little benefit to regaining the territory now but if you can think of a way we could use it to our advantage, please discuss it in the Communications Server.
There is an insanely risky gambit of pushing into Atlas. This would definitely distract the Governed enough to loosen their grip on the Reeds. However, Atlas is one of the most fortified cities in the dome, we would be sending a wave of troops to their deaths. The risks might outweigh the reward here but everything has to go perfectly.
You have a major decision ahead of you, may Dionea guide us all to the vine-covered path.
