S1C6: Small Victories and Traps in Waiting

To those with our cause in their hearts,

We have lost quite a bit, but our plans are set, and our victory will be hard fought for.

The second that the Cultivation Society set foot into Rivers End, we directed a few large battalions of troops into the Reeds. They were able to take the northern villages within the hour and slowly made their way down.

We order our troops to pull back a little, leading the Cultivation Society further towards the river. Once they crossed it, we knew that we had them.

By that point, the Reeds was fully captured and the residents given the opportunity to flee to the Roots. Once we secured everything, I led a few more battalions through the underground tunnels in the Circuits to reinforce the Reeds for the coming assault.

By the time that Reeds was fully reinforced and we were ready to cut their front lines in half, we heard a massive explosion from Overwatch.

The eyes of the dome, a building filled with records and movements of every civilian down to the millisecond, the silent terror of Atlaunder, Overwatch. The Governed reduced the building to rubble in seconds, along with the 50,000 employees and the last remnants of the old government’s mass surveillance systems. The sound shook the dome as smoke touched the ceiling. The fire raged for days as the Governed searched for survivors, just to put them down like dogs.

Now that we have troops stationed in the Reeds, we need to plan our next moves precisely. Now remember that I’ll be a part of this raid, so whatever you choose has to be worth risking my death.

From our position in the Reeds we have a few angles we can take:

We can cut straight through their lines in Rivers End, cutting off any form of reinforcements, and trapping their advancing army on the west side of the river. There might be some complications if the Cultivation Society catch on to what we’re doing and decides to launch an assault on the Reeds from the Roots.

Alternatively, we can attack from the Roots, drawing their attention away from Rivers End and opening two fronts for them. Us losing the Reeds wouldn’t impact us much, but the effects of losing the Roots would be devastating for the cult. However, the defences of the Roots are similarly unknown, so they might defend it much more furiously than we can anticipate.

There are the lower value targets such as Jeritopia and Overwatch. Being able to reform the Reeds and kicking down Jerit’s stupid god damn theme park would be so cathartic. The rubble of Overwatch wouldn’t be that valuable in and of itself. However, we could use it to divide the Cultivation Society’s territories in half, isolating their two major territories. It would mean turning our back on the cult, which would be a risky play.

The choice, as always, is yours. This could turn the tide against the cult and the Governed if we pull this off correctly.
