S1C8: A Rare Miracle
To those with our cause in their hearts,
We are ecstatic to announce that River’s End is ours, and we have wiped out many opposing forces in The Circuits. We originally thought we would have to choose one or the other, but due to our own determination and will, we were able to nearly do both. We can drink, and we can breathe a little easier now.
We still held up against The Cultivation Society in a tight skirmish, so we had the opportunity to push back against The Governed and The Oasis Network in The Circuits, opting to protect ourselves first.
We lost many in The Circuits. Each death was not only a step closer to breaching Level 99, but each death was a reminder that they don’t want us to thrive at all. We were swarmed with both of Jerit’s men and those lifeless robots.
I tried to activate the firebombs constantly. The protocols failed upwards of four times before one finally landed in The Circuits, eradicating all Governed and Oasis in the area. We did diagnostic checks to see what caused the initial hiccups, but I can’t personally find anything. All I can say is that the firebomb thrown hit our enemies, and our Collective was unharmed. The Circuits aren’t ours yet, but it will be soon.
Another positive was that we cleared out the majority of The Circuits earlier than anticipated, meaning we could refocus our attention back onto River’s End and The Cultivation Society. Jerit decided to be Jerit and foil our attempts to fight back against them, killing a few of our men with his mortar strikes. Yet we successfully fought back, taking over River’s End. The rest of The Cultivation Society seemed to be preoccupied with The Governed in Overwatch and near their home base, so they weren’t able to reach us.
I have to admit… I thought the worst. We are fighters through and through, but even I saw our positions and couldn’t help but wonder if this was the end. But we pulled through, as we always do. We fought back stronger than ever, and now River’s End is ours.
I will always celebrate our victories, the willpower of our people, but I can’t help but think back to the firebombs. Why did it succeed in the order that it worked in, and not the previous ones? If it succeeded on my earlier attempts, it could have ended differently; the fifth firebomb attempt did exactly what we wanted. I’m fighting every urge in my body to say it was divine intervention.
Right now, we have Level 99, River’s End, and The Reeds. Our main objective is to secure and protect The Circuits, but new opportunities arise. The numbers with both The Governed and The Oasis Network are low, with Jeritopia virtually exposed. There are still enemies in Valhalla, and Oasis still runs The Smoke. It’ll be a bloodbath, but with our numbers-- our will-- anything is possible.
